Children come into care for many reasons, often involving family hardship, loss, crisis, or lack of safe care. Bethesda responds with dignity, protection, education, health support, and family-centred planning wherever possible.

Bethesda Child Care Centre was founded in 2013 by Pastor John and Elizabeth, who felt called to respond to this crisis with love and action. What began as a small home in Mirangine, Nyandarua County, has grown into a thriving community that currently houses 50 to 70 children at any one time.

Our approach is holistic. We do not simply provide a roof over a child's head. We invest in their education, healthcare, emotional well-being, and spiritual growth. We walk alongside them as they heal from trauma, discover their gifts, and begin to dream about their futures.

We believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves to be loved, valued, and given the chance to flourish. That belief drives everything we do.

Many of the children who come to us have experienced profound challenges. Some children have experienced instability, disruption, or unsafe circumstances before reaching care. The journey from that place of difficulty to one of healing and hope takes time, patience, and consistent care.

At Bethesda, we provide that consistency. Our team of dedicated caregivers, teachers, and support staff are committed to walking with each child every step of the way. We create a structured, nurturing environment where children feel safe, loved, and valued.

The results speak for themselves. Children who arrived withdrawn and fearful begin to open up. Those who struggled in school begin to find their footing academically. Children who need stability are supported through consistent routines, trusted caregivers, education, play, and emotional care.

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have. Every child at Bethesda is enrolled in school and supported with tutoring, school materials, and encouragement. We have seen children who arrived unable to read graduate and go on to secondary education, and some have begun to dream of careers and further study.

Beyond education, we invest in the whole child. Recreational activities, music, sport, and creative arts give children a space to discover their gifts and experience the joy of simply being a child. These moments of laughter and play are not luxuries. They are essential to healing and growth.
